Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the latest arcade racer from Sega, releases in just over two months on consoles and PC. Along with familiar faces from Sonic the Hedgehog, the largest roster in series history will feature characters from Persona, Like A Dragon, Minecraft, and other popular franchises. CrossWorlds will also have cross-platform online multiplayer for PS5, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch when it races into stores September 25. Preorders are live now for physical and digital editions, and you can get exclusive bonuses and even discounts by ordering early.
It's worth noting that Sega is developing a dedicated version for Switch 2, but it won't be available until the holiday season in digital format. A true physical edition for Switch 2--the full game on a 64GB game card--will arrive in early 2026. If you want to play at launch, you can grab the Nintendo Switch edition for $60 and then pay $10 to upgrade when the Switch 2 version launches.
CrossWorlds is one of several upcoming games with an Amazon-exclusive edition. If you preorder a physical copy for Switch, PS5, or Xbox Series X, you'll find an exclusive poster, shown below, tucked inside the box. This edition was announced shortly after Amazon unveiled its exclusive edition of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, which also includes a poster and launches a few days after CrossWorlds.
All preorders, including the Amazon-exclusive edition, come with the Sonic Werehog DLC pack containing the following in-game items:
PC players won't be able to get the poster, but they can save on their preorder. Steam keys for the standard and Digital Deluxe versions are discounted at Fanatical (a GameSpot sister site). The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass, three-day early access, and more in-game content.
Along with the physical standard editions of the game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is also available in a digital deluxe edition that includes the following bonus content:
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will launch with 23 playable racers, including plenty of classic Sonic characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik, and more, as well as a selection of guest characters like Ichiban from Yakuza: Like A Dragon, Joker from Persona 5, Steve and Alex from Minecraft, and Hatsune Miku.
Along with the sizable cast of racers, there will be 45 different vehicles that can be modified from a pool of 70 gadgets.
At launch, CrossWorlds will have 24 main courses and 15 "CrossWorlds," which can be teleported to mid-race using the new Travel Ring mechanic. There will be several solo and multiplayer modes, including local split-screen co-op and online matchmaking with up to 12 players.
The way to survive in modern society is to be an ascetic. It is to retreat from society. There’s too much society everywhere you go…The only solution is turn it off.
